What I've Been Watching: March 26-March 28

The latest. Here we go.

RABID (1977), one of David Cronenberg's early flicks, it also ranks among some of his finest work. A delightfully gory and graphic zombie film, it mixes grindhouse pleasures and chilly body horror with excellent results. This is a great place to start if you're looking to get into the work of Canadian auteur David Cronenberg. Stream on Amazon Prime or Tubi, or rent on Amazon Video for $2.99.

STEP BROTHERS (2008), an Adam McKay studio comedy from the late 2000s that you've most likely seen before, a couple days ago was this writer's first viewing of the movie. Boasting two fun performances from Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, the rest was rather stupid (in the worst possible way). Stream on Netflix, or rent on Amazon Video for $2.99.

A ROOM WITH A VIEW (1986), a James Ivory classical love story, this is decorative cinematic comfort food of the highest order. Beautiful costume design and art direction, superb performances, and dry wit in abundance, this is one of the best romances I've ever seen. Stream on Cinemax, or rent on Amazon Video for $2.99.

THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING (1964), often feels like an early precursor to George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. At a tight 62 minutes, this UK horror/sci-fi is about space robots that turn the human race into zombies that do their bidding! It's like a great Twilight Zone episode. Stream on Tubi, or rent on Amazon Video for $3.99.
