Best Netflix Titles to Stream

A lot of the titles I've been writing about are exclusively available to rent, or stream on a niche streaming service, so I thought I'd give you some recommendations on a streaming service we (mostly) all have! Here are some of the best Netflix titles to stream right now.

ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968), about a pregnant woman who fears a cult has orchestrated her pregnancy. It's weird as hell, but ranks amongst the best horror films ever made.

FRANCES HA (2012), starring Greta Gerwig as an adult who has yet to get her act together. It's tender, hilarious, and so sincere. The best film that 2012 had to offer.

A GHOST STORY (2017), watch Rooney Mara eat an entire pie and cry alongside her. This beautiful meditation on death and time is haunting; an experience you won't likely soon forget.

BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR (2013), we're all in quarantine (hopefully) so you know you have time for a 3-hour French lesbian romance. Especially when it's this good.

PARIS IS BURNING (1990), educate yourself on LGBTQ+ history with his historic and soulful documentary about the ball scene of New York in the 80s.

LUPIN THE 3RD: THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO (1979), legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki's first feature is this stunningly animated, lively adventure tale that feels way ahead of its time.

ENEMY (2013), Denis Villeneuve's underseen mindbender stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a man frantically searching for his double. The end will leave your jaw dropped.

A SINGLE MAN (2009), legendary fashion designer Tom Ford's first filmmaking endeavor is a smashing success concerning late-in-life love and loneliness.

KICKING AND SCREAMING (1995), one of Noah Baumbach's best, this Whit Stillman-influenced talky film about youth in love would make a surprisingly appropriate double feature with A Single Man.

TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016), a Korean zombie film with enormous scope and high-concept thrills, this is one to watch if you're looking for a jolt of energy.

BURNING (2018), this Lee Chang-dong masterpiece is a slow boil of murder and mystery. Catch up on one of 2018's most beautiful, exquisitely shot films.

TOOTSIE (1982), a near-perfect script and excellent lead performance launches this comedy to the category of classics. If you haven't seen Tootsie yet, you're missing out.

SPRING BREAKERS (2012), Harmony Korine's odyssey of sex and drugs escalates to a timely critique of MTV "girls gone wild" culture.

MAPS TO THE STARS (2014), this creepy Cronenberg concoction of fame and sex offers one of Julianne Moore's best performances. Totally underrated.

A SERIOUS MAN (2009), one of the Coen Bros' best films is a tale of suburban angst and decay in small-town America. A masterclass in filmmaking.
